Color Country Cycling Club Newsletter

Treasurer position (vice Lonnie): Jeff Heyboom was nominated and received a unanimous vote as club treasurer beginning January 1, 2011. Jeff is a CPA from St. George and is committed to doing a good job for the club. His riding tends towards the mountain bike side and he has done much volunteer work to support mountain bike events and the trail network in the Washington County area. There will be some logistical problems with Jeff being located in St. George, but strategies are already being put in place to overcome them. The club wishes to thank outgoing Treasurer, Lonnie Wolff, for the hundreds if not thousands of hours he has dedicated to keeping very accurate club financial accounts and records, dating all the way back to April of 1997, as near as anyone can remember.

We talked about ways to improve the club newsletter and to improve the club. If members ever have thoughts or ideas they would like to share with the club, feel free to contact Lasse Bjerga or Craig Egerton any time. We discussed creating a survey to find out what the club membership really wants and expects from the club. Some assignments were made in relation to the survey, and we expect this to be a continuing topic of conversation.

We discussed the New Years Day Clair Jensen Memorial ride. It will meet at Bloomington Park at 10:00. Joe Schoney has agreed to lead us on a short, hour or less, very casual ride around the bike trails and quiet back streets of Bloomington. We’ve asked Joe to include a brief stop at Clair’s final rest stop as part of the ride. We encourage mountain bikers and road riders of all levels to bring their bike of the day and join us. The ride will return to Bloomington Park at which time mountain and road show and goes will be decided.

Chad Horman agreed to explore some opportunities for a family ride or family ride series so that we can involve some of the youngest members of the club.

January 1: Clair Jensen Memorial followed by show and goes.

January 8: Race course and Zen loops mountain ride

January 15: Road ride to be determined

January 22: Prospector Trail mountain ride

January 29: Road ride to be determined.

Finally, those of us who attended the meeting would like to thank Steve Magnetti for hosting the meeting at his newly opened Pizza restaurant, Freestyle Pizza.
